Progression
A symbolic time-unfolding technique where each day after birth corresponds to a year of life. Progressions reveal the slow internal maturation of the natal chart — the psyche's own developmental clock, independent of external transits.
Related terms
- Natal ChartA map of the sky at the exact moment and location of a person's birth, showing the positions of all ten planets. The natal chart is the foundational document of astrological interpretation — a symbolic blueprint of an individual's archetypal makeup.
- TransitThe current real-time position of a planet as it moves through the sky, especially in relation to a natal chart. Transits are the primary timing mechanism in astrology — they describe which archetypal themes are being activated now.
- ReturnThe moment a transiting planet returns to its exact natal position, completing one full orbit since birth. Saturn return (~29 years) and Jupiter return (~12 years) are the most culturally significant, marking major life-phase transitions.
