Alex Honnold climbing up Taipei 101 on January 24, 2026Did you watch Alex Honnold climb Taipei 101 without a rope or harness this past weekend!? I'm still in awe that I got to witness such a monumental feat by one of our own species live on Netflix. Wow.
I first came across Honnold in 2018 when I watched the Academy Award winning documentary Free Solo in the movie theatre, solo. It features Honnold free soloing El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, meaning without anything but his bare hands (and climbing shoes). My palms were sweating the entire duration of the film.

And I am not joking when I say this: I went to the theatre four more times to re-watch it again, and again, and again, and again. Each time, my palms still got sweaty.
Honnold had a hold on me, or rather, on my fear. I just couldn't understand this guy. Why would he do such a thing? Why take such an enormous risk?
His attitude toward life turned my own fear inside out and upside down. Was I living boldly enough? Or better yet...was I actually living? This set in motion the beginning of a grand adventure for me. So if you haven't yet, I urge you to watch Free Solo, and then watch him scale Taipei 101 in just 1.5 hours.
But making you question your life with sweaty palms is not the main reason I'm sharing this story. What Honnold achieved this past weekend reflects the visionary capacity of the current Saturn-Neptune alignment. Archetypally, Saturn symbolizes discipline, time, and structure, while Neptune symbolizes the ideal, the intangible, and the aspirational. When these two planets align, we often witness or experience the Ideal becoming Real. Many are now calling Honnold the greatest athlete of all time, because he did the impossible.
Synchronistically, when Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to summit Mount Everest in 1953, Saturn and Neptune were in a similar alignment to today. A place beyond the clouds—seemingly unreachable—was transcended through strenuous training, perseverance, and against all odds, by two fellow humans.

If you're like Honnold—who dreamt of climbing Taipei 101 for over a decade and finally made it happen—this may be your moment to turn that long-held dream into a reality. Saturn can be slow and painful. But it is by taking those small, arduous steps—no matter how small—that we come closer to touching our vision: that which carries the fragrance of the infinite, Neptune.
